Cà Verde farm is located in Almenno San Salvatore, in Località Cà Verde, on the sunny hills of Imagna Valley, in Lemine area, where is situated the well known Romanic Church of S. Tomè (IV century A.D.). It's one of the first farm to obtain the organic agriculture certification. The farm produces Valcalepio Doc red wine, IGT Bergamasca red wine and IGT Bergamasca rosé wine. In the southern part of the hill consisting of a poor but special soil, unique in the wine area of Bergamo, the old vineyard was replanted with new plants, following the principles of quality production. The soil in the steepest part of the hill is terraced and the southern orientation gives excellent exposure to the sun. These factors, combined with a high number of plants per hectare of special selections of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with low yields per plant, have always allowed us to produce high quality wines with special structure and characteristics. Since the beginning our mission was to cultivate in a natural way, without the use of chemicals. Thanks to this philosophy we were one of the first farms to be certified organic vineyard. From 2012's vintage, as a result of the new EC Regulation on organic wine, we are able to certify organic wine too: in fact, on our bottles from the last harvest you can find the label with the organic logo of the European Union, the Euro leaf. My name is Mauro and I inherited from my father the passion for my work. My farm is a small family run business. I bottle approximately 7000 bottles of wine a year, the result of my work as a winemaker, because I cultivate the vineyard directly with my hands and I take care of all the steps from the wine-making up to the direct sale of my wine.
